1. Who is eligible for participation?

The Online Quiz is open for overseas Indian youth and foreign nationals between the age of 18 and 35 years as on 1 January 2020 (Not born before 01 January 1985 and after 1 January 2002). The quiz will be held for three distinct categories of participants - Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Non-Resident Indians (NRI), and foreign nationals. Details can be found under "General Rules and Guidelines".

2. Is there any geographical locational restriction?

No. There is no geographical or location restriction for participants, as long as eligibility criteria are met.

3. Can Children/wards of NRI/PIOs living in India participate ?

YES.The wards of NRIs/PIOs living/residing in India are otherwise eligible for contesting the Quiz provided their parents meet the eligibility criteria. They should use the passport details of their parents in the Registration Process.

4. Will there be verifications of credentials ?

YES. PIO or NRI status of the winners of the Ist round will be verified by the concerned Missions/Posts abroad. In case PIO or NRI status of the participant turns out to be false, he/she will be disqualified and will not be allowed to take part in the next rounds of the Quiz nor will he/she be considered for medal. However, in case the document cannot be verified, Missions may take a decision on merit and issue a written certificate.

6. What is the structure of the Quiz?

The Quiz will be conducted in 4 rounds.

7. Is Registration mandatory?

YES. It is mandatory for all participants to complete online registration. A helpful user guide is provided on this link.

8. What do I get when I win?

Top 3 winners from each category of the First round will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. The top 5 in each category (NRI, PIO, Foreigner) in the Final round will be declared as winners: The top 3 in each category will receive medals and the next 2 in each category will receive consolation prizes. All winners of the Final round will be invited to tour India after Covid.

9. What happens if there is a tie?

In case of a Tie where two or more contestants have the same score, the performance in Tie breaker questions will be checked.

  • These are Questions 5,10,15,20,25,30.
  • A contestant who has answered more of these 6 tie breaker questions correctly will move to the next round.
  • Sudden Death: In case of two or more participants scoring exactly the same even after checking the performance on tiebreaker questions, then ‘sudden death’ format will be used to adjudge the winner.
  • In ‘sudden death’ format’ the contestant who first gives a wrong answer will be adjudged as having ‘lost’ and the other contestant(s) shall be declared selected. Still if there is a tie, the contestant who first gives 5/ 10/15/20/25/30 right questions within the shortest time shall be declared selected.

11. Where should we refer for reading material?

The material provided in this website are indicative and do not constitute the ‘syllabus’ for the Quiz. Participants are free to refer to other sources of information to prepare for the Quiz.
